Cool Bugs
Entomology is becoming more and more popular among individuals who realize that bugs are much more interesting than people usually see. They are all around us and there are so many species that it can make it difficult to recognize all the bugs that one might meet in their path. Many of these bugs are special so to speak for the way in which they blend in the nature and they give wilderness a different aspect. The damselfly is one of the best known cool bugs. It is an insect that forms part of the Zygoptera suborder of the Ordonata order. Its appearance is characterized by a rather long body, large multifaceted eyes and two pairs of wings which are widely separated and transparent. At rest, the wings are held folded together above the abdomen. Most people know them as cool bugs because they are the subject of art in various cultures. Also, their colorful appearance and their grace together with their unique mating behaviors made them increasingly noticed by individuals more or less passionate about insects.
Cecropia on the other hand, or Robin Moth, is the largest moth that can be found in North America. It is estimated that its wingspan can reach 6 inches. They are part of the giant silk moth’s family known as the Saturniidae family and it is said that females can have a wingspan of 130 mm or even more. The larvae of these moths are commonly seen on maple trees, as well as wild cherry and birch trees.
For entomologists all the bugs are cool. They come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and certainly they can be quite interesting thanks to their behavior and appearance all together.
